In a recent comprehensive study on U.S. supermarket and mass merchandise shopping habits, Point of Purchase advertising was found to significantly influence purchase decisions.
Research proved that shoppers pay attention to displays, signs, coupons and other in-store activity; consumers not only recalled the P.O.P., but also were far more likely to purchase products with P.O.P. support over unadvertised brands
Shoppers also made the majority of their purchase decisions while in the store. In mass merchandisers, according to the POPAI study, more than 70% of brand purchase decisions were made at the retail level.
